Live the Moment

Eckhart Tolle used the example that when you carry water you should not think about where you have come from or where you are taking the buckets to. Nor should you focus on the distance or the weight. Your only thought should be the moment that you carry the water.

How difficult is this concept when you’re sitting behind your desk with a long to-do list in front of you? This principle says, pick a task and only focus on what you are doing at that exact instant on the task. Do not think about what you have done, or about what you still need to do. Just do what you are doing.

It’s a difficult lesson for most of us, yet how liberating? Tolle emphasises, like with carrying the water, you are not passive, instead you are at peace and acting within your situation. It is not that you give into anything, rather you quieten your inner chatter and work with your current energy.

Just try to be in that moment once a day and see how it feels.
